New Beachtown Dream Home paint scheme viewed from primary dune walkover.

Well, after days and weeks of consideration, we chose our exterior paint scheme and the home is now painted.  And we couldn’t be more pleased.  See if you don’t agee.   New pictures are now posted to the Gallery.

Because we designed our home to match the look and feel of the homes you will see at Seaside, Florida, we went with a bright blue color scheme.  At first it seemed too bold of a color choice, however, we quickly realized that when the sun is at full strength, it tends to wash out the colors.  So lighter blues ended up just looking white.

The colors are as follows:

  • Trim: Lowes Anthem White
  • Hardiplank siding:  Sherman Williams Northern Lights
  • Ground floor: Lowes Smoke Infusion
  • Ground floor louvers: Sherman Williams Teacup

Note:  We only used top-of-the-line Sherman William paints designed specifically to handle tough coastal environments.

Kraftmaid cabinets were the obvious choice for the Beachtown Dream Home Kitchen

Very exciting news. Our builder has starting the process of installing the kitchen cabinets.   As I called out in an earlier post about our laundry room, we selected Kraftmaid cabinets with a Shaker style door  in a dove white factory finish.  This door style is great in that even the smaller drawer fronts have the shaker style framing rather than a plane flat front.

We think we achieve that nantucket beach home look and feel with our cabinets and design.  (see earlier post on Something’s Gotta Give inspired kitchen).  Just as in the movie, the island is very spacious.  The aisles are generous.  And there is plenty of storage and seating.

We haven’t yet finalized the cabinet hardware, but I am pretty clear on what I think would look best.

I have posted the cabinet schematics on our plans page.  Check them out!

6/26/2010 Update:  Pictures of actual cabinets added to Gallery tab.

As I write this, tile experts are busy laying and grouting the floor and shower tiles in the Beachtown Dream Home’s master bathroom, making this the perfect time to share our final plumbing fixtures, vanity, lights, and tile selections.

As you would expect, we selected only the best brands and styles for the master bathroom.  All have that necessary “high-end beachy feel” including a 68″ clawfoot tub.

Does it get any better than taking a bath while listening to the ocean crashing while overlooking the primary Beachtown dune walkover?

Don’t think so…

Well, enjoy.
